Burger King
Half-Price Hump Day
Burger King’s Half Price Hump Day was built to catch people mid-scroll, not pull them out of what they were doing. The idea was to make the user feel like they were discovering an exclusive coupon.
As users scrolled through an article, the banner began to reveal itself. The animation reacted directly to the user’s scroll, mimicking the feeling of a coupon being ripped open to uncover the deal underneath. Scrolling down revealed the offer, scrolling back up stitched it back together.
The reactive format turned a standard banner into a tactile, attention-grabbing moment that rewarded natural behaviour. Deals were refreshed weekly, keeping the execution flexible while giving people a reason to notice the unit every Wednesday.
This example demonstrates a 300x600 banner. I also developed this in 300x250 banners.
